Hi-Calcium Lime

MK’s High Calcium Pelletized Lime provides high levels of calcium to the soil in order to combat acidity within the soil. At MK, we pulverize our mined limestone into a fine powder before pelletizing it to allow for rapid release upon usage.

  • Calcium (Ca): 33%
  • Magnesium (Mg): 0.7%
  • Calcium Carbonate Equivalent: 86%
  • Water Soluble Binder-lignosulfonate: 2%
  • Moisture (Maximum): 1%
  • Our pelletizing procedure grants an even spread of our product to ensure that calcium is placed evenly through the soil. Calcium is an essential component in the plant cell wall, and needs to be present in order for new cells to grow
  • Helps increase the pH in acidic soil (soil with a pH below 7)
  • Can eliminate Aluminum Toxicity
  • Increases the efficiency of other major nutrients like Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium that plants need
  • Helps plants to absorb Nitrogen and synthesize proteins
  • Improves microbial action to help break down pesticides and organic matter

Signature Series

Agriculture grade pellet that has an SGN of 362-378 or 5-8 millimeters

Professional Series

Fairway grade pellet with an SGN of 260-270 or 3-4 millimeters

Nutri-18 Series

Nutri-18 is a greens grade pellet and has an SGN of 130-138 or 1 ½ -2 millimeters

Cal-Sul Gypsum

MK’s Cal-Sul Gypsum is an excellent source of calcium and sulfur for plants and soil alike. Using pelletized gypsum helps improve soil structure, allows for increases in oxygen and water penetration, removes residual salt from effluent water and repairs salt damage caused by winter de-icing and pets.

  • Calcium (Ca): 21%
  • Sulfur (S): 14%
  • Calcium Sulfate (CaSo4): 68%
  • Water Soluble Binder-lignosulfonate: 2%
  • Moisture (Maximum): 1%
  • Our pelletizing procedure grants an even spread of our product to ensure that both calcium and sulfur are delivered to the soil
  • Improves the soil structure and compaction of clay soils, which in turn improves the water and oxygen penetration
  • Stimulates microorganism growth
  • Helps alleviate blossom end rot

Dolomitic Lime

When plants need both calcium and magnesium, MK’s Dolomitic Lime is a great way to get these important nutrients right where they are needed. Dolomitic Lime is a natural source for both of these minerals, and not found in most fertilizers. Magnesium plays a key role in the photosynthesis process of plants and is vital in the overall systems of plant growth. Calcium helps build and strengthen the plant’s cell walls.

  • Calcium (Ca): 17.5%
  • Magnesium (Mg): 10.1%
  • Calcium Carbonate Equivalent: 80%
  • Calcium Oxide (CaO): 17%
  • Magnesium Oxide (MgO): 17%
  • Water Soluble Binder-lignosulfonate: 2%
  • Moisture (Maximum): 1%
  • Our pelletizing procedure grants an even spread of our product to ensure that both magnesium and calcium are distributed evenly throughout the soil
  • Helps with the photosynthesis process in plants
  • Supplies Magnesium to acidic soil
  • Improves the microbial action to help break down pesticides and organic matter

FAQs

What is the difference between High Calcium Pelletized Lime and Pelletized Gypsum?

High Calcium Pelletized Lime is a form of Calcium Carbonate. With a pH of approximately 8.2, it assists with correcting soils that have a low pH level. Our pelletized lime consists of nearly 30% calcium and less than 1% magnesium. Making it the perfect and quickest way to get calcium into the soil. Pelletized Gypsum on the other hand is a Calcium Sulfate. At the minimum, it contains 20% calcium and 16% sulfur giving it a neutral pH of 7.0. Gypsum is good for soils that are “tight” and don’t allow oxygen or water to penetrate the soil. It also alleviates high salt content. When soils are deficient in both calcium and sulfur, pelletized gypsum is the best corrective source for both.

What is the difference between High Calcium Lime and Dolomitic Lime?

Dolomitic Lime is similar to High Calcium Lime in the terms of pH, however, it contains much less calcium (minimum of 16%) but much more magnesium (minimum of 10%). Dolomitic Lime is a Calcium Magnesium Carbonate which is a solution for soils that are in need of both calcium and magnesium.

What’s the difference between Ag Lime and Gypsum and Pelletized Lime and Gypsum?

Ag Lime and Gypsum is a fine powder, almost like flour, that comes straight out of the quarry. Being so fine, it can make it hard to spread in an even distribution. This can result in some places receiving more nutrients then others, or the wind carrying the product away before it can reach the soil. By pelletizing our products, it creates a more even distribution when spreading. The pelletizing process also ensures that each and every pellet has the same amount of micronutrients as the pellet next to it; so you know that you are getting a high concentration of nutrients throughout the whole area.

Can MK and Ground Force Products be mixed with other fertilizers?

Of course! We have designed our products so that they can be blended and spread effectively with other products if desired.

Do I need to work the product in after applying?

Not at all. With any type of moisture, our granules will begin to break down immediately into the soil. This allows it to start moving through the top 4 inches of the soil. (This is the soil area that is the lowest in micronutrients.) If you are planning on doing some tillage, do it beforehand and keep it light. This will allow the product to stay in the 4-6 inch zone.

Do I need to water the product?

You don’t have to, but there’s no harm in it. If there’s any type of moisture in the ground, the product will begin to breakdown without additional water. Adding water will simply speed up the breakdown process.

Can MK and Ground Force products “burn” my grass if too much is applied?

In short, no. Because our products are mineral fertilizers instead of chemical ones, they will not “burn” your grass if too much is applied. If more is applied then needed, it will only allow calcium and other micronutrients to build within the soil and be used for future use. However, damage could be done if the product is poured into one spot and left for an extended period of time.

What should my spread setting be for lawn application?

This answer depends on your spreader and the product that you are trying to spread. Ground Force consists of 3 different grade sizes in each of our pelletized Lime, Gypsum, and Dolomitic Lime products. Depending on what grade size you have, will determine the setting to set your spreader at. Please check out our Spreader Section for more information.

You have different sizes of product, does the size impact the effectiveness?

Not at all! The SGN (Size Guide Number) for each Ground Force product can be found on the corresponding product tab. The effectiveness of each product is not dependent on the size of granule. Even though the grade size changes, the effectiveness does not because all sizes of our products have the same analysis. No matter what granular size you get, you will still be getting the best quality!

What’s the difference between GroundForce & Agriculture Products?

Ground Force refers to our bagged product line. Agriculture refers to our bulk product line. Both lines offer the same quality, product choices, and grade sizes.
